Why Are People Refusing to Come Back to the Traditional Workplace?

The Covid pandemic had a great impact on life as we know it. Everyone from small children to the elderly had to rely on technology for things we normally take for granted. From going to school to running errands, we were faced with our “new normal”. Thus, the work-from-home culture emerged and replaced “going to the office”. The thing is… this was meant to happen only during the Covid lockdown.

As Covid restrictions loosened, many workplaces were calling their workers back. The service industry was back in business and increasing guest capacity by 25% each month or so. Some blue-collar employers were allowing hybrid work so that Covid isn’t easily spread. White-collar employers seemed to feel it best for the remaining workers (those who had not been laid off) to return to the office.

After working from home for less than a year, many people preferred working from home to going to the office. But why? It’s the same work… just… done at home. Same thing, right?

Why are People Refusing to Return to Their Workplace?

After the adjustment to working from home, it seemed like employees’ morale was going up, therefore, leading to higher levels of productivity. Why? No commute, flexible…
